The rebuild phase is well underway in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene. SBCV Disaster Relief Rebuild is partnering with various organizers in Mountain City, Tennessee to repair upwards of 140 homes and rebuild 40 homes. You can find out more at https://www.sbcv.org/rebuild/.  

Most of this work will come from volunteers.  With that, we do have to opportunity to send a group from Village to serve for a week in the Mountain City area sometime this Spring. If there are enough people interested in taking this sort of trip, we can form a team and select a week to go and serve.  

The majority of the rebuild seems to include the basic elements of home repair and building a house. Signup sheets that I’ve seen include a need for both skilled and unskilled volunteers. SBCV Disaster Rebuild is working with local organizers so some of the serving may involve overlap with other volunteers and organizations. Also, lodging and meals are provided for volunteers.
